Birthday Dinner at Jacmel Inn | Hammond, LA

We always have done big birthdays in my family, and August has been Jordan Birthday Month since 1990. However, in 2014 that changed, and now it’s Jordan and John Birthday Month since our birthdays are 7 days apart. So now that August is upon us, the celebrations have officially kicked off with dinner with my family at Jacmel Inn.

Jacmel Inn is one of our favorites, and it’s actually where we ate the night that John proposed. It’s a cute house that they’ve transformed into a restaurant, and we’ve had many many family meals here.

We started with appetizers, and we went with the Cast-Iron Seared Steak Tips, Crispy Oysters, and Avocado Toast. All three were great, but if you’re only going to get one appetizer, the Steak Tips are the clear winner with the gorgonzola cheese sauce {so much so that they were half eaten before I got a photo}.

All entrees come with a soup of the day or house salad, but for a small charge, you can upgrade to a signature soup or salad. Most of our group chose to upgrade, so we had French Onion Soup, Iceberg Wedge, and Georgia Peach Salad.  I’m a sucker for a wedge salad, and this is one of the best around!

Jacmel Inn is known for their steaks, but the rest of their entrees are incredible too! If there is duck on the menu, my brother in law is going to order it, and he really enjoyed this. When it says “Half Duck”, they aren’t lying. The portion was huge! Both of my parents ordered the Pan-Roasted Redfish, John ordered the Grilled Gulf Fish, and the rest of us went with the filet with a fried. potato. cake!

We skipped dessert for this beautiful red velvet cake from The Cocoa Bean Bakery  {the rest of it is in my refrigerator right now and I may have had a slice for breakfast}, but the best dessert at Jacmel Inn is the Chocolate Bomb which is also from The Cocoa Bean Bakery.

It was a wonderful night, and we couldn’t have asked for a better birthday month kickoff! Next stop: DISNEY WORLD!
